Art of Breathing
Qi Gong
The benefits of control of breathing on body and brain functions have been known for millennia but now its physiological basis for optimizing wellness, from peak fitness to patients with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions (e.g. heart failure, diabetes, hypertension, depression), has only now been scientifically demonstrated.
The Merits of Activity
The merits of activity are hard to ignore. And the benefits are yours for the taking, regardless of age, sex or physical ability.
Bodyweight Fitness Training
Cardiovascular and strength bodyweight training is a total-body workout that involves performing a series of different exercises in one training session, alternating between intervals of strength training and cardiovascular exercise. Because the workout includes both strength and cardio training, exercisers will realize the benefits of both types of exercise. The end result is that circuit training improves general conditioning, body composition, muscular endurance, muscular strength, and cardiovascular fitness.
Wing Tsun Kung Fu
Wing Tsun is a sophisticated Chinese martial art originally devised by a woman. Practitioners therefore, need not be physically stronger or faster than a potential attacker. Students learn principles that can be applied to many areas of life, including verbal confrontations. Wing Tsun builds on the existing potential of each student. To get to know your strengths and to put them to use. You will gain a new awareness of your body, self-assurance and an Awareness of capabilities and potential.
Muay Thai
Train the body, mind, and heart. Physical conditioning is useless without developing concentration and dedication. Show patience and persistence with yourself and others.
As your physical strength, coordination, and stamina develop, you will also notice improvements in your determination, patience, and self-control.
Take a deep Breath and Relax It's a piece of advice that yogis have given for thousands of years. Now the hard science has caught up – for a comprehensive scientific study showing that deep relaxation changes our bodies on a genetic level has just been published.
Tai Chi
Tai Chi is often described as "meditation in motion," but it might well be called "medication in motion." There is growing evidence that this mind-body practice, which originated in China as a martial art, has value in treating or preventing many health problems. And you can get started even if you aren't in top shape or the best of health. As you move, you breathe deeply and naturally, focusing your attention — as in some kinds of meditation — on your bodily sensations.
Yoga
Imagine an activity that increases your flexibility, centers your thoughts, and relaxes and calms you. Yoga poses have been developed over centuries of research and experience. Yoga uses postures, focused concentration on specific body parts, and breathing techniques to integrate the body with mind. Yoga has positions that act upon the various joints of the body including those joints that are never really on the ‘radar screen’ let alone exercised.
